It was at the end of last year that in Bridge design & engineering magazine we read about
Bridges To Prosperity, an American non-governmental organisation (NGO) that funds
and builds bridges in Third World Countries.
Their unique concept fascinated us and we decided to concentrate our energy in helping
them to realise bridge building projects. Together we developed a corporate program, which for us means to fund and jointly build a bridge with a little Peruvian community – the villagers of Tres Unidos.
The idea behind
is to bring our knowledge into the community,
to help them to build the footbridge they need theirself.
The aim
is to design a footbridge that can be rebuild elsewhere – basic in design,
out of local resources, cheap to erect but nevertheless durable and safe to use.
