We need two different kinds of foundations: one for the abutments, one to host the pylons. The abutments consist of a 4 x 1 x 1.5 meters concrete block into which all anchor rods run in. On top of each more than 10 tons of soil act on. For a detailed description of the abutments see Step 2 or browse through the News section, where its development is documented. The pylons foundations are simple reinforced concrete blocks of 1.5 x 1.0 x 0,8 metres. They have to carry far less loads than the abutments. Forces develop are almost all by pressure whereas the abutments have to absorb the main weight of tensile forces.
