Much to our surprise we found that the second excavation on the opposite riverside has already been finished by the villagers.
Our
contact person Damaso was engaged with his own business during the last
weeks, he couldn't go to Tres Unidos very often. For us this
meant no up-to-date information and no photos of the progress.
We
expected the work had been stoped and the villagers waiting for Damaso
to buy sand for casting the concrete of the first abutment. All the more
we were amazed to see that the volunteers went on with the second
excavation.
We now need to urgently
organize the sand for mixing the concrete so that the abutments can be
closed as soon as possible. The longer we wait the likelier is the risk
of flooding the cavities during the next heavy rainfall.
